    Region is home to the earliest Japanese Capitals which are Nara (710) and Kyoto (792-1869) being a capital for 1400 years. The Kansai region contains five world heritage sites which are; Buddhist Monuments in the Horyu-ji Area, Himeji Castle, Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara, and Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. It is Japan's Major Economic and population center after Tokyo.
